Hood vents, also known as range hoods, are used in kitchens to remove smoke, grease and smells from the air. Cooking in an enclosed space produces these byproducts. They can easily be removed by installing hood vents and using them each time you cook in the kitchen.

The shape of the hood is designed to capture air as it travels up from the stove top. Most hood vents use ductwork to ventilate the air to the outside of the house. Some hood vents are attached to chimneys above kitchen islands or kitchen ovens against a wall. Other hood vents are mounted underneath kitchen cabinets.
